Morning is a Mounjaro tracker for iPhone. It logs each weekly Mounjaro (tirzepatide) shot against the dose plan you and your prescriber set, reminds you on shot day, remembers your last injection sites, and shows how nausea, appetite and energy pattern around your shot. It scans your meals for protein, fiber and water, and puts your lab results in context next to your progress. Morning works in English and Spanish, and you can try it free for 7 days.

## Key takeaways

- The Mounjaro label starts at 2.5 mg once a week; if more blood sugar control is needed, the dose goes up in 2.5 mg steps after at least 4 weeks on the current dose.
- The label's maximum is 15 mg once a week for adults and 10 mg for children 10 and older.
- In the diabetes trials, nausea affected 12% to 18% of people on Mounjaro vs 4% on placebo, and most nausea, vomiting and diarrhea happened while the dose was being raised.
- Mounjaro can make birth control pills less reliable for 4 weeks after starting and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.
- Mounjaro is tirzepatide, the same medicine as Zepbound. In Mexico and much of Latin America, tirzepatide is sold as Mounjaro.
- Morning logs your shots, sites, side effects, protein, weight and labs, and never tells you what dose to take.

## What should you track on Mounjaro, and why?

On Mounjaro, the things worth tracking are the ones that move with your weekly shot and your dose steps, plus the numbers your prescriber watches over time. Keeping them in one place shows you patterns and gives your appointments a clear starting point.

| What to track | Why it matters on Mounjaro | How Morning helps |
|---|---|---|
| Each weekly shot and its dose | The label raises the dose in 2.5 mg steps, at least 4 weeks apart, only if more control is needed, so plans differ from person to person | Shot log against the plan you and your prescriber set, with shot-day reminders |
| Injection site | The label says to rotate sites with each dose (belly, thigh, or back of the upper arm if someone else injects) | Remembers your last sites so you can rotate |
| Nausea, appetite, energy | Most nausea, vomiting and diarrhea happened during dose increases and decreased over time | Side-effect check-ins that show patterns around shot day |
| Protein | Decreased appetite is a common side effect on the label, which can make protein harder to reach | AI food photo scan counts protein toward your daily target |
| Fiber and water | Constipation is common, and vomiting or diarrhea can lead to dehydration | The same scan counts fiber and water |
| Weight | Many people on Mounjaro also want to follow their weight trend | Weight and progress charts with Apple Health |
| Lab results such as A1C | Mounjaro is approved to improve blood sugar control, which your prescriber checks with labs | Lab results in context and a doctor report for appointments |

## What is the Mounjaro dose schedule on the label?

The US Mounjaro label starts at 2.5 mg once a week. If more blood sugar control is needed, the dose can go up in 2.5 mg steps after at least 4 weeks on the current dose, up to 15 mg once a week for adults. Unlike Zepbound, the Mounjaro label does not list fixed maintenance doses; your prescriber decides whether and when to step up.

| Step | What the label says | Earliest timing on the label |
|---|---|---|
| Start | 2.5 mg once a week | From week 1 |
| Each increase | 2.5 mg more (5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 mg), if more blood sugar control is needed | After at least 4 weeks on the current dose |
| Maximum, adults | 15 mg once a week | |
| Maximum, children 10 and older | 10 mg once a week | |

**Your prescriber sets your plan; Morning logs it.** For missed doses, changing your shot day or any change to your dose, follow your prescriber and the label. Our [titration schedules tool](/tools/titration-schedules) lays out the full Mounjaro schedule next to the others.

## What forms does Mounjaro come in?

In the US, Mounjaro comes as a single-dose pen, a single-dose vial, a multi-dose vial and a single-patient-use KwikPen, each in strengths from 2.5 mg to 15 mg. The multi-dose vial and the KwikPen each hold 4 doses, and the label says never to share a KwikPen, even with a new needle. The label asks prescribers to make sure you are trained on the form you receive.

Outside the US, the forms and strengths available, and the approved uses, are set by each country's health regulator. If you get Mounjaro in Mexico or elsewhere in Latin America, check the leaflet in your box and follow your prescriber. Whatever the form, the things to log are the same: the date, the dose your prescriber set, and the site.

## What is Mounjaro approved for?

In the US, Mounjaro is approved, along with diet and exercise, to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 and older with type 2 diabetes. It is also approved to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (cardiovascular death, heart attack or stroke) in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk for them. Mounjaro and Zepbound are both tirzepatide from Eli Lilly; Zepbound is the US brand approved for weight management, and has its own [Zepbound tracker guide](/zepbound-tracker).

## Does Mounjaro affect birth control pills?

Yes. The Mounjaro label says it may make oral hormonal contraceptives less effective, because it slows how fast the stomach empties. That effect is largest after the first dose and lessens over time. The label advises people on birth control pills to switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method, for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. Logging your dose steps makes those windows easy to see. Ask your prescriber which option fits you, and tell them if you are planning a pregnancy.

## What are the most common Mounjaro side effects?

The most common Mounjaro side effects on the label are nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, indigestion and belly pain. In the diabetes trials, nausea affected 12% to 18% of people on Mounjaro vs 4% on placebo, and most nausea, vomiting and diarrhea happened while the dose was being raised. If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, the label notes a higher risk of low blood sugar, and your prescriber may adjust those medicines. Our [tirzepatide side effects guide](/guides/zepbound-mounjaro-side-effects) has the full rates and timing, and the [nausea guide](/guides/glp1-nausea) has practical ways through the rough days.

> Severe stomach pain that will not go away (with or without vomiting), pain in the upper right belly, yellow skin or eyes, not being able to keep fluids down, a lump or swelling in your neck, signs of severe low blood sugar, or signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or trouble breathing: contact your clinician or seek urgent care.

## What does the first month on Mounjaro look like?

The first month on Mounjaro is usually the 2.5 mg starting phase: four weekly shots before the earliest point the label allows a step up. It is a good time to set up your routine, because patterns you notice now help at each later step.

| Week | What the label describes | What to track |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | First 2.5 mg shot | Shot, site, starting weight, how you feel the next 2 days |
| Week 2 | 2.5 mg | Nausea, appetite and fullness; water and fiber |
| Week 3 | 2.5 mg | Protein at each meal; whether side effects follow your shot day |
| Week 4 | 2.5 mg, the 4th week on the starting dose | Notes and recent labs for your prescriber |
| Week 5 | Earliest point for a 2.5 mg step up, if your prescriber decides more control is needed | Side effects can return for a few days after a new dose |

## Why track protein on Mounjaro?

Because decreased appetite is one of the most common Mounjaro side effects, it is easy to eat less protein without noticing, and protein helps protect muscle if you are losing weight. Protein first at each meal and a few easy options for low-appetite days go a long way. The [protein calculator](/tools/protein-calculator) gives a starting range to discuss with your clinician, and Morning's food scan counts your protein from a photo.

## How Morning helps

Morning logs each Mounjaro shot against the plan you and your prescriber set, reminds you on shot day and remembers your last sites. Short check-ins show how nausea, appetite and energy follow your shot and each dose step, and the food scan counts protein, fiber and water from a photo. Your lab results sit next to your progress, and the doctor report turns your weeks on Mounjaro into one page for your next appointment. Try it free for 7 days on iPhone, in English or Spanish.
